Shrine of Remembrance -Melbourne

On the way, the fragrance-blended wind,

breezing over the vibrant-colored flowers,

A soothing fountain sprints cold dews,

Cone trees beside the way pacify the hectic mind.

The surroundings, rich with nature’s beauty,

Lush green gardens with cooling grass,

Makes the wanderer go weak to pass them,

without stealing a glimpse to feel the joy.

Humongous cavernous walls,

that soar so high and

rely on giants of columns,

And doming together with grace.

The quiet inside the stony monument,

Witness the long-forgotten memories

of sacrificed blood of the nation,

that dried on the war-torn soil.

Stony stairs haunted with resonating cries,

proffer a sensation of prying a neat mine,

to excavate some grim secret,

that found abode in the places inscribed in the bricks.

The pediment reminds the divine rules,

From up the heaven, sent through angels,

The law of life which stands above all,

Greater than humans and other living souls.

The story of exploitation for war,

said by the colorful flags of the troops martyred,

As they flap they holler out loud, Hark!,

“We gave our lives for you to see the free light of this world”.

A still of myself in the gardens of Shrine of Remembrance.
